  • Picture post!

It turns out my brother's laptop likes picture cards, so I can do a picture post!

Maria was a great little traveler!  She was an absolute angel on the plane!

    Mountain montage!!!

The following pictures were taken at the Mesa Verde mountain dwellings, the condo, and the sand dunes:

Joe looking for marmots at the condo (we could hear them, but we didn't see one until we were leaving).

Maria after exploring the ski slopes that are about 50 feet to the left.  No snow means no skiing, but the slopes were covered in wildflowers, which made her day.  However, there is a Colorado law against picking the wildflowers, which she didn't like too much, but it is about keeping Colorado beautiful...

On our way to Mesa Verde to see the Native American dwellings!

    A little anxious, Joseph?

I think it's a pretty ingenious idea.  That roof will last for eons!

I was charmed about the ceiling, still blackened by the home fires that once burned here.  It is still being excavated, so there wasn't a whole lot of exploring we could do in the ruins.

There was a fire pit that we could climb into.  John took the boys in, who loved it!

The mill station for the natives to grind their grains.  I imagine this is where news traveled the fastest...

Thomas climbing a cool, gnarly tree.

And finally, the only picture I got at the sand dunes because my camera began to die.  The little stream that ran through it was like a super-safe beach area for the kids to play.  Maria and Joseph didn't want to leave the water, so John and Thomas hiked the dunes while Joseph and Maria got wet, muddy, and giddy about the whole thing.  The scenery was surreal and gorgeous.

Fabulous pictures!  I live in southern NJ, which is FLAT.  Seeing mountains in person must be wonderful.  I loved the wildflowers.  I can see why there has to be a law against picking them.  Have you visited Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA, yet?  I highly recommend it.
