I've got plans for Maria's second birthday underway. It floors me that she'll be two next week.
My mom has cable. I watched an episode of Ace of Cakes and now I have it in my head to do a two-tiered chocolate cake with pink and brown marshmallow fondant. If it comes out half as well as I'm hoping, I'll post pictures. If it becomes a miserable wreck, please look for it on cakewrecks.com, where the commentary alone will be worth the failure.

LOL! I remember one year my sister made her daughter a Barney cake. She used food coloring and used a lot of it. That was one time I was very thankful that I passed on the cake. Everyone had purple all over their faces.
I've made a bunch of different simple cakes compared to what you're going to do. Some looked better than they tasted and some tasted better than they looked.
Hope you get both. I hope she has a very happy Birthday and that her momma has an easy day.
Isn't that the truth!?! Good luck on the cake. Fondant is beyond my skills, I'm just never going to even try.
Tell me about it ... I'm floored too, and mine is turning THREE! You're about five steps ahead of me in planning though. I've still got to figure out what I'm going to do for her birthday.
